“The Child Law bans violence against children and mandates the reporting of child rights violations. Child Protection Committees have been set up to address child abuse, while a child protection hotline has been operating for the past three years. In schools, corporal punishment of children is now illegal. We continue to work with the government on priority areas linked in vision 2040 and national plans,” she added.
She furthered that a recent study commissioned by UNICEF and Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information, the Child Well-being and Empowerment Index (CWEI), found that Oman scored high on child well-being and empowerment across the domains of health, wealth, education, protection and water and sanitation.
