Muscat International Airport secures ACI health accreditation certificate

Muscat International Airport (MIA) has been awarded an airport health accreditation certificate by the Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific.

MIA is the first airport in the Middle East to secure the international certificate that was approved by the ACI to ensure health standards in airports throughout the world.

At present, over 80 airports globally are now accredited under the ICAO-supported Airport Health Accreditation programme.

ACI World launched Airport Health Accreditation programme in July 2020 to assist airports by assessing airport Covid-19 health measures against global standards.

The programme offers airports an assessment of how aligned their health measures are with the ICAO Council Aviation Recovery Task Force (CART) Recommendations and with industry best practices.

Oman Airports manages and operates the MIA, which is situated in Seeb, 32km from the old city and capital Muscat within the Muscat metropolitan area.

Oman Airports CEO Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed Al Hosni said: “Planning and implementing the highest international standards of airport health and safety measures has been our top priority since the start of Covid-19 pandemic. We adapted a proactive approach and we placed passenger peace of mind as the focal value of our airports. We spared no initiative to ensure our passengers feel secure going through our airports.

“We highly appreciate ACI’s recognition of Muscat International Airport and we look forward to always raising our quality bar even higher!”
