Decrease in number of vehicle fire accidents in Oman

The number of vehicles in Oman that caught fire decreased in 2020 compared to the figures from 2019, when 769 such incidents were recorded.

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) on Monday said that 606 total vehicle fire incidents were reported in 2020.

The authority explained that vehicle accidents were most frequently caused due to negligence and lack of periodic maintenance of vehicles.

Not ensuring sufficient quantities of engine coolant or installing additional devices that increase engine pressure or electricity usage in vehicles was also a major cause.

The authority indicated that vehicle fires increase significantly in the summer and often result in human and material losses.

“The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority calls on all to follow the instructions issued by it and apply preventive measures, in order to ensure the safety of community members and their property,” the statement added.
