As part of its efforts to boost tourism, the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has set up 12 information centres in different parts of Oman.

These centres are located at Muscat International Airport, Al Darah outlet in Khasab, Khasab Port, Dibba Port, Port Sultan Qaboos, Al Wajajah outlet in Shinas, Wadi al Jizzi outlet in Buraimi, Hufait outlet in Buraimi, Tiwi al Sa’ada in Jebel Akhdar in Nizwa, Salalah Airport in Dhofar and Sohar Airport.

The centres have ministry representatives providing information about tourist attractions, services provided in the regions as well as safety guidelines.

Representatives distribute maps and brochures about the regions. They also provide information related to tourism services, fuel stations, hotels, and archaeological sites.

A highly-trained team of tourism professionals briefs tourists about important aspects such as appropriate dress code, terms and conditions of photography, and keeping the environment and tourism facilities around the region clean.

The ministry staff also helps tourists with their accommodation bookings, travel routes and other important on-ground services, while constantly seeking their feedback and suggestions to improve the quality of services in respective governorates.

The Ministry of Tourism has also issued some promotional releases aimed at introducing tourist sites and promoting tourism awareness. The ministry has identified a website goo.gl/6WmCuf to download these releases.

The ministry stated that more than 1.6mn people visited Oman in 2018, boosting domestic tourism in the country.
